- Ferocious 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 develops 412kW / 700Nm
- Phenomenal acceleration of 3.9sec to 100km/h – yet very efficient
- Advanced new lighting and infotainment technology is a stand-out
Phillip Island, Australia, May 14, 2015 – The storming pair of heavy-hitters at the very top-end of the Audi Sport RS range, the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback, are back in Australia. New lighting and infotainment technology, along with greater fuel efficiency, make these incredible vehicles even more desirable.
"These two superlative sportscars show the depth of engineering talent and passion for performance at Audi Sport," said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia Pty Ltd.
"These new models combine innovation, functional design and phenomenal performance into two distinctive vehicles that reflect the very best of what the Audi Sport team is capable of. Owners of these vehicles can experience the passion that has driven the team to record-breaking motorsport success, every single day," said Mr Doyle.
The RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback are the ideal complement to each other. For some owners, the RS 6 Avant is more versatile and practical, with an extra 30 litres of luggage space (RS 6: 565 litres and RS 7: 535 litres, respectively) due to the squarer load area, yet the distinctive silhouette and breathtaking styling of the RS 7 Sportback will make it the only choice for the design driven. What they have in common, though, is the ability to provide crushing performance, thanks to the mighty engine they share.
Producing 412kW and 700Nm, the mighty 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine features an innovative design, with the exhaust and turbochargers sitting inside the 'vee', and intakes plumbed to the outside of the engine. This is in contrast to conventional design.
The greater thermal efficiency of this layout aids better fuel efficiency and lower emissions (now EU6 compliant). Fuel consumption is lower, at just 9.5 and 9.6 litres per 100km for the RS 7 Sportback and RS 6 Avant respectively.
Performance is in the realm of elite supercars, with astonishing acceleration that sees both reach 100 km/h from rest in just 3.9 seconds. A top speed of up to 305 km/h is possible with the Dynamic Package Plus.
In keeping with the rest of the A6 and A7 model ranges, the new RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback have been comprehensively refreshed, with revised front grilles, and a new headlight design, side sills, rear-end styling and interior layout.
At the front of these models are the innovative Matrix LED units, which offers an incredible level of forward vision at night-time, without blinding other motorists. Dynamic turning indicators at the front and rear are also available across the range – a real safety advancement in low-visibility conditions.
The new high-resolution Driver Information System (DIS) sits in between the speedometer and tachometer readouts, and can display crystal-clear map-based navigation right in the driver's natural field of vision. This intelligent ergonomic innovation from Audi is powered by the new-generation MIB2 infotainment system, which itself is driven by the latest Nvidia Tegra 30 quad-core processor.
As expected of high-performance models that sit at the very pinnacle of the Audi RS range, both models come equipped with a very high level of standard equipment, including the following:
- Adaptive air suspension (Sport)
- Digital TV reception with DAB plus
- quattro sports differential
- RS sports exhaust
- Head-up display (HUD)
- 21-inch alloy wheels
- Audi parking system plus with front and rear cameras
- Glass sunroof
- RS sports seats upholstered in Valcona leather and honeycomb stitching
- Matt aluminium styling package including funnel-shaped lower air intake with quattro logo
In addition, these models can be equipped with key performance packages, to allow discerning enthusiasts to customise their vehicle.
The new Audi RS 6 Avant and Audi RS 7 Sportback are on-sale now.
