• 75 per cent of lots already meet reserves

With just two days before Shannons Timed Winter Online Auction closes on Wednesday evening (August 26), an impressive three quarters of all lots have seen strong bidding activity.

However, there is still time for enthusiasts to purchase a sought-after Classic car, motorcycle, Heritage number plate or rare memorabilia item before the auction begins to close progressively from 7pm.

Shannons believe the shorter one-week auction timeframe, compared to two weeks for the previous Autumn Online Auction in May/June, has led to heightened bidding activity.

Amongst the feature lots, $180,000 has already been offered for a stunning 1972 Porsche 911E 2.4 Coupe. However Shannons believe that the quality and provenance of this exceptional early 1970s Porsche should result in it selling for closer to $200,000, or more.

An enthusiast has offered $195,000 for a beautifully-restored and rare 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 manual roadster. However, based on pre-auction interest and rising International values, Shannons believe it could ultimately exceed its $235,000 high estimate when bidding closes.

With 37 bids to date, considerable interest has been shown in the customised 1963 Holden EJ Panel Van in the auction. Fitted with a five-litre, fuel-injected Holden V8 and offered at 'no reserve', its bidding is currently led by an offer of $52,500.

Another 'hot' lot with early bidders is a rare 1977 Chrysler CL Charger 770 265 coupe factory-optioned with a four-speed manual gearbox that has already attracted 43 bids, the highest being $46,000 for a vehicle expected to exceed its $40,000-$50,000 guiding range because of its condition and rarity.

A 1963 Jaguar MkII 3.8 'manual' saloon slated to sell in the $35,000-$45,000 range, has already attracted a top bid of $46,000, which is likely to be trumped' before bidding close on Wednesday.

Bidding has also been keen for the auction's 43 automobilia lots, with $16,500 so far offered for a three-piece, embossed enamel Shell sign measuring 1.8 x 2.6 metres.

Heritage black and white NSW and Victorian number plates are also in high demand, with the 'no reserve' Victorian black and white 'lucky' number plate '88-881' currently sitting at $66,666. The NSW motorcycle plate '26' has already attracted an offer of $85,000, with many individual plates registering high double digit bids.
