They are the Classics that always draw a crowd, because they are rare, affordable, have a notable ownership history, offer a restoration challenge – or all four. And there are a number of them in Shannons current Timed, Online Spring Class Auction that closes on November 18.

Classic Beetle

Admirers of Volkswagen's classic Beetle will be drawn to the very tidy 1969 Volkswagen Beetle 1500S sedan, that is being offered with 'no reserve' and is expected to sell for $6,000-$10,000.

Fitted with a period-style timber luggage rack, the factory beige Beetle with a standard interior was delivered new in Melbourne and now on its second period-correct 1500cc engine, presents and drives well, ensuring it will get plenty of interest sat any gathering of car enthusiasts.

1993 HSV VP Commodore 'Plus Six'

 Just 58 of these 'HSV-enhanced' 3.8 litre six-cylinder VP-model Holdens were produced primarily for dealers in regional areas, with cosmetic bodywork upgrades and suspension refinements. This one is No. 18 and is in tidy condition having covered an indicated 142,324km, thought genuine. A potentially very affordable entry into HSV ownership, this this Commodore +SIX is expected to with 'no reserve' for  $8,000 - $10,000.

If you'd like to own a classic Riley, the 1950 Riley RMA 1.5Lt Saloon ticks a lot of boxes for its stylish period looks, simple mechanicals and affordability.

Although ready for a refresh, the auction car's crimson paint is in fair condition and with a tow bar, it could be paired with a classic caravan, making it ideal for some leisurely country camping trips at its 'no reserve' projected selling price of $10,000 - $15,000.

John Laws' Morris Minor Traveller Estate

If you enjoy a bit of name-dropping, the 1965 Morris Minor Traveller Estate formerly-owned by the 'Golden Tonsils', radio broadcaster, John Laws, could be just your thing.

Nicely preserved and maintained, it has been owned by Laws for 26 years and currently showed 36,883 miles on its odometer at the time of cataloguing. The price of 'name-dropping' is expected to be  $28,000 - $34,000.

1955 Fiat 1900A 'Granluce'

If you really want to have enthusiasts scratching their heads, this circa1955 Fiat 1900A 'Granluce' 2Dr Saloon will do the trick.

Once a glamour car of film stars and celebrities and one of only two known to be in Australia, where it has been for the past 40 years, this very stylish Fiat coupe came into the vendor's hands just a few years ago.

Well presented and with the certainty that you are never likely to park next to its 'brother' at a Cars & Coffee' morning, this premium model Fiat of its era is eligible for participation in events like the Mille Miglia and as well as for its stylish looks, it is expected to sell in the $40,000 - $50,000 range.

1977 MG Midget

Finally, if you want a fun sports car, look no further than the neat 1977 MG Midget 1500 that is being offered with 'no reserve' and is expected to sell for $10,000 - $12,000.

Featuring a 'Backdated' look, a new roof and with records of $9,000 spent on a recent major service, there is still room for some external refurbishment, or the car can be enjoyed now for what it is: a fun, 1970s sports car for not much money.
