Corporate Information
Mazda Australia Pty Ltd is an importer of Japanese motor vehicles. Australians have been enjoying Mazda's Zoom-Zoom product for over 50 years.
As the country's top-selling full-line importer, Mazda Australia accounts for over 9.0 per cent of the Australian market.
A subsidiary of Mazda Motor Corporation based in Hiroshima, Japan, Mazda Australia's head office is in Mount Waverley, Victoria, with offices in most mainland states.
The company has a staff of over 125 with a further 2,000 employed across the 128 dealerships nationwide.
Mazda Australia sells a range of vehicles from the stylish and compact Mazda2 through to the world's best-selling open top roadster, the MX-5.
The Mazda3 has also enjoyed success in this market, being crowned as Australia's favourite car in 2011 and 2012.
Mazda's award-winning vehicle line up also includes the sporty CX-5 crossover SUV, the light commercial BT-50 range and the versatile seven-seat crossover SUV, CX-9.
Customer service is a vital link in the philosophy of the Company's Australian operations. Mazda pioneered long term warranty periods in this market and its National Customer Support Department has extensive resources available to all Mazda customers. Now with Mazda Service Select, customers can vary their service schedule according to how they use their Mazda.
The first Mazda to land in Australia was in 1959 when a three wheeled light truck was imported to Perth by a local company. Mazda developed from there and soon had distributors and dealers in every Australian state.
The company established a reputation for quality cars and over the years the beautiful Mazda 1500, the benchmark small 323, the rotary powered RX-7 and the award winning MX-5 sports cars, all have become symbols of the company's product range. Engineering innovation is also one of the company's trademarks with Mazda among the pioneers of electronic suspension control and four wheel steering systems. More recently Mazda began re-engineering its range with SKYACTIV Technology – creating better performance and greater fuel efficiency by dramatically improving engine, transmission and chassis design.
Mazda is particular proud of its long-time partnerships with the North Melbourne Football Club, Opera Australia and the Herald Sun Run For The Kids, held in Melbourne each year in support of the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday appeal.
More recently, Mazda sponsored the Celebrity Challenge in the 2014 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix, with 20 celebrities racing in identical Mazda3s around Albert Park.
Mazda is also conscious of its obligation to make a contribution to the development of society. The Mazda Foundation, which was established more than a decade ago, has funded programs designed to assist the needs of youth, the environment, medical research and promote relations between Australia and its Asian neighbours.
